Our Mission

The Hermosa Beach Education Foundation (HBEF) is a volunteer organization dedicated to raising funds for the Hermosa Beach City School District. As parents and members of the HBEF, we hope to enrich the lives of students in Hermosa by ensuring that all students receive the benefits of a creative and comprehensive academic curriculum.

Many of us know the value of innovative science and technology programs that excite young minds about the world around them. Or, the sheer joy students feel when they’re inspired with the creativity of music and art classes. However, few realize that these programs, which are invaluable to a child’s education, cost a lot of money. And, despite being high performing distinguished California schools, our school district does not receive the state funding it needs to maintain its education programs and the standard of excellence we expect for our community.

Every year the HBEF collects tax-deductible donations from several fundraising events like the Annual Appeal, Hearts of Hermosa, The Wine Walk, and the SKECHERS Friendship Walk. Each event brings parents, community members and corporate donors together to support Hermosa Beach schools, and the funds raised provide opportunities for our local children to flourish academically and personally with a well-rounded education.
