From time to time, organizations within our community will hold fundraising events with proceeds benefiting the HBEF. Thank you to all the local businesses and organizations who help raise money for our great schools. Below are the most recent events:
Skate for the schools is now in its 7th year and Seabass has raised over $4000 this year! Way to go!
Valley teachers and staff came together to hold two McTeacher nights at the McDonalds on Artesia Blvd in 2012. Volunteers worked the registers taking orders, manned the drive-thru and even made McFlurrys and fries. Students really loved seeing their teachers outside of school working to raise money for the school. In May, McTeacher night raised nearly $1,400 while the event in October brought in over $2,000.
Skechers hosts a walk from the Manhattan Beach pier to the Hermosa Beach pier and back every October. Funds are raised for the Friendship Circle benefiting special needs kids. All local South Bay education foundations also receive proceeds from the walk. As many as 300 Hermosa students, parents and teacher participate in the walk. In 2012, $27,000 was received from Skechers.
Gum Tree in Hermosa Beach has Santa come pose for photos with local children, families and even pets. Lauren Pressey donates her photography talents while Gum Tree pays for Santa to attend. In December 2012, over $4,000 was donated to the HBEF from this very merry event.
